The Rime Center Needs Your Help!

On Sunday February 10th at the town hall meeting the Rime Board announced that the Rime Center’s coffers are low and that the sangha will have to leave its current location if things don’t improve.

Our current monthly cost for rent and overhead expenses are $5,500. Unfortunately through the Jindak Community, our monthly giving program, we receive regular contributions each month at around $3,000. This means that the Rime Center has been operating at a deficit, depleting our resources. If we are unable to reach our goal of raising $5,500 a month then the Rime Center will no longer be able to afford to stay at our current location.

We need your financial support, please consider becoming a Jindak Community member by making a monthly suggested contribution of $108. You can even contribute as little as $10 a month either through the link below or by filling out an ACH form at the center.

The timing is urgent as Lama Matt has given us until March 31st to reach our goal. If we are unable to do so then the Rime sangha will have to begin making plans to leave our current location and relocate.

Meditations by Lama Matthew Rice – Winter/Spring 2019

To Be an Inclusive Spiritual Community in Kansas City

The Rime Buddhist Center founder, Lama Chuck, challenged us as a sangha to be one of the most welcoming spiritual communities in Kansas City. You can see that manifested today in our Service Guild, with our greeters on Sunday mornings, the volunteers in the Gift Shop, and the meditation leaders on Wednesday evenings. It’s wonderful to see sangha members take the time to welcome people to the Rime Center. Continue reading

Kum Nye – Healing Inner Space with Santosh Philip

January 18 – 20, 2019

We are delighted to welcome Santosh Philip back to Kansas City and the Rime Center, January 18th through 20th. Santosh will be leading us in a system of Tibetan yoga practices called Kum Nye. “Kum Nye exercises teach us how to smooth the jagged energies of body and mind. Using massage, postures, and movement, we can awaken blissful feelings within body and senses that can open our energy centers (chakras) and relieve the pressure of conflicting meanings and interpretations.” Tarthang Tulku, Joy of Being.

Tibetan Uprising Day

March 10, 2018

The Rime Buddhist Center will gather at the JC Nichols Fountain on the Plaza to observe Tibetan Uprising Day on Sunday, March 10 at 12:30 pm. The Tibetan Uprising Day is marked every year in memory of the 1959 Tibetan uprising against the ruling of China in Tibet. The armed rebellion resulted in a violent crackdown on Tibetan independence movements and consequently led to the Dalai Lama’s flee into exile. Continue reading
