Drepung Gomang Monks Sacred Art Tour Returns to Kansas City

December 8-11, 2024

The Rime Buddhist Center is once again honored to host the Drepung Gomang Sacred Art Tour. This tour shares the compassion and wisdom of Tibetan Buddhist culture throughout the country. The Monks will be in Kansas City, December 8th through 11th. Events planned include a Pujas and Tsa Tsa Workshop at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.

To support the 2000+ monks under their care, Drepung Gomang Monastery welcomes donations of $20-$50 for the events. Every contribution directly benefits the monastery. Your generosity is deeply appreciated.

Events will feature traditional Tibetan items like singing bowls and refugee-made goods such as jewelry, clothing, and artwork available for purchase. Proceeds from the tour will support the Drepung Gomang Monastery in South India, which provides housing, food, and education to monks, including orphans and refugees from Chinese-occupied Tibet, who wish to study at this center of higher learning.

7:00 – 9:00 PM Fire Puja at the Rime Sangha House

A fire puja is a potent ritual in which numerous specific substances are offered to a fire. This ceremony is believed to have many benefits, including wish fulfillment, obstacle removal, health improvement, and merit increase. It also purifies negative karma and aids in attaining higher rebirth for the deceased. For Buddhist practitioners, the fire puja strengthens the bond with the Buddha, purifies obstacles, and fosters spiritual growth by enhancing meditation concentration and facilitating progress on the path.
