Celebrating Life, Honoring Those Who Have Passed

Join the Rime Center’s Gathering of the Dakinis and our wider Sangha for a special community outing to the vibrant Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration on Central Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas!

Día de Muertos is a cherished Mexican tradition that honors the lives and memories of loved ones who have passed away. Through colorful altars (ofrendas), music, art, food, and joyful gatherings, this celebration reminds us that love and remembrance transcend death.

As Buddhists, we recognize the preciousness of human life, the reality of impermanence, and the importance of honoring those who have touched our lives. This outing offers a wonderful opportunity to experience another culture’s beautiful expression of remembrance while strengthening the bonds of our own Sangha.

The festivities include traditional ofrendas, local art, delicious food, live entertainment, walking Catrinas, and a colorful evening parade.

Whether you come for the cultural experience, the celebration of life, or simply to enjoy time with Dharma friends, everyone is welcome!

Event Highlights:

  • Food, art, and ofrendas: Noon–9:00 p.m.
  • Live entertainment: 2:00–6:00 p.m.
  • Walking Catrinas: 3:00–6:00 p.m.
