108 Day Bodhisattva Challenge Has Begun!

If you are still interested in joining the Bodhisattva Challenge, please contact us.

This challenge will be practice intensive for those who want to apply their understanding of Bodhicitta with daily practice. We welcome new students who are looking to learn about the Bodhisattva Mind Training and how to apply it to their Buddhist path, as well as experienced students who have insights to share.

Upcoming Special Event: Bodhi Day – Online Puja

The Rime Center will be hosting a special online puja to commemorate Bodhi Day. It is the Buddhist holiday that commemorates the day that Shakyamuni Buddha is said to have attained enlightenment, also known as bodhi in Sanskrit and Pali. Bodhi Day is observed in many mainstream Mahayana traditions. Register in advance for this event to get the Zoom link.

Letter of Solidarity for the Dialogue Institute of Kansas City and the Kansas City Raindrop Foundation

On October 21,2022, the offices and community center of the Dialogue Institute of Kansas City and Kansas City Raindrop Foundation, was the target of vandalism. Three teenage vandals broke in through a window and ransacked the building leaving a swastika, the anarchy symbol and obscene phrases scrawled across walls. On Nov 10, 2022 Lama Matt and other community leaders came together to stand in solidarity with the Dialogue Institute and Raindrop against this act of hate. Lama Matt read the following statement at the event.

The Buddha taught about our interconnectedness to all sentient beings around us. In the Buddhist scripture, The Flower Garland Sutra, the Buddha uses the metaphor of Indra’s net. Continue reading

Upcoming Holiday Event – Lha Bab Düchen, the ‘Festival of the Descent from Heaven’

November 15, 2022 beginning @ 6:30am

The Rime Center will be open during the day for Lha Bab Düchen. Come in and meditate at your own pace and time limit. Lama Matt will be offering the 24 hour Mahayana vows to those who wish to make special effort for the day. The vows will be given in-person at 6:30am.
